Daniel W Peterkoski
Senior Women's Coach
Coach Dan Peterkoski is a level 5 certified swim coach, which is the highest certification awarded by the American Swimming Coaches Association. Coach Dan came to the Upper Arlington Swim Club in August of 2003 to lead the Girls Senior program. During this time the Girls Program has produce 70 Individual All-American Swims, 31 Individual & Relay Ohio High School State Champions, 9 USA Junior National Qualifiers, 5 USA Senior National Qualifiers and 2 Olympic Trial Qualifiers. His Teams have won the Ohio High School Water Polo Team title 8 times and the OHSAA Swimming Division 1 State Championships 8 of the last 10 years.
Coach Peterkoski grew up in Berea, Ohio where he played Water Polo and Competed on Both the Berea high School Swim Team and the Berea Midpark Swim Club. He graduated from Boston College in 1994 with a B.S. in BioChemistry and earned his Masters in Education from John Carroll University in 1998. While at Boston College he was a 2 year Varsity Letter Winner on B.C.’s Water Polo Team.
Dan is currently a Science teacher at Upper Arlington High School. Prior to 2003 Dan taught science at Berea High School and was the Head Coach for the Berea Midpark Swim Club in the Lake Erie LSC along with the Berea High School Girls and Boys Varsity teams. Dan resides in Upper Arlington with his wife Christy and their twin girls Brynlee and Addison.

Mike de Bear
Senior Men's Coach
Mike who has been the head coach of the boys program since September 2010, is an ASCA level 4 certified swim coach. Previously to UA he was the head coach at Dublin Scioto for 6 years. He has coached 13 district champion individuals and 8 district relay champions as well as 4 state champions! At UA his boys teams have been runner-up in the state in both 2012 and 2013 and have won the district championship in all 3 years as coach and have finished in the top 3 at the state meet (the top public school all 3 years). At Scioto both his 2010 boys and girls teams finished in the top 12 at the state meet. He is a two time district coach of the year, 2012 state coach of the year, and 2012 NFHS Mideast sectional coach of the year . In addition he has coached multiple Junior National qualifiers and NAG top 10 athletes, as well as athletes who have moved on to compete at top level schools like Texas, Ohio State, Kenyon, and more.
He is a 2001 graduate of Syracuse University, where he played water polo, and received his BA in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. He received his teaching license in 2004 from Ashland University. He completed his masters degree in the spring of 2009! Mike is currently a Social Studies teacher at Dublin Scioto teaching US History and World History. Previously Mike coached water polo in Worthington for 7 years, including 5 as head women’s coach and 1 as head men’s coach. He has 8 regional championships and 10 state qualifying teams to his credit, including 3 state runner-up squads and two state champions including the 2012 boys team at UA. Mike was an assistant coach for 3 years at Worthington under Jim Callahan. He is also a coach with UASC and the boys water polo team at UAHS. Previous experience include Northwest Swim Club, Brookside and Tartan Fields country clubs, and Central Ohio Water Polo Club. Mike got married to Nicole in August 2010, they have a dog, 2 cats and a baby girl McKayla Jane and reside in Dublin. He also has completed multiple ½ Ironmans.
